Hello!
I created a couple of articles that covered license options for NetScaler. The more I thought about it the more I felt that there are a few different bits to it. In this article, I will endeavor to combine this into a learning path.
What is a learning path?
The idea is to have a single document that links to the various steps that would be needed for someone to move from one thing to another. The path should start at a logical point and offer several stages. The stages will be separate pieces in their own right, this will allow people to use as much or as little as they need.
Assumptions
Lets assume that you need NetScaler for <something>
The admin has access to the license portal to setup and install the required licenses, or you have some evaluation codes
There are various options that might require a license decision.
Step 1: Identify the use case. This helps later on when sizing the new instances.
Step 2: Select a feature bundle approach to address 1.
Step 3: Deploy a license, pick one.
NetScaler evaluation licensing
NetScaler evaluation (>20meg) licensing
Fixed licensing
Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud licensing
Step 4: Provide sizing guidance.
Step 5: The differences between Fixed, Pooled, and Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud
Step 6: FAQ
Step 1: Identify the use case.
There are some different use cases for NetScaler, having a handle on the workload can help when it comes to sizing it. Article to follow.
Step 2: Select a feature bundle approach to address 1
This link talks about the different editions of NetScaler in a bit more detail.
Step 3.1: Deploy the test licensing, and set up the free evaluation 20meg NetScaler licensing.
Step 3.2: Deploy the licensing, and set up the fixed evaluation NetScaler licensing.
Step 3.3: Deploy the licensing, and set up the fixed NetScaler licensing.
This is really very similar to the last one(3.2)…
Step 3.4: Deploy the licensing, and set up the UHMC with NetScaler Console.
This applies to the Platform also, the entitlements are just bigger.
Step 4: Provide sizing guidance.
one to follow..
Step 5: The differences between Fixed, Pooled, and Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud
Step 6: FAQ
