NetScaler Times newsletter for Week 43 - 2023
Hello Everyone
I'm Andrew Scott, a pre-sales engineer on the Commercial team at Cloud Software Group. One thing I've noticed in my role is the steady stream of questions and curiosity about NetScaler. To address this, I've created the 'NetScaler Times'. This newsletter aims to provide you with valuable pointers and updates.
The world of NetScaler is ever-evolving, with builds constantly being refined and enhanced with new features and fixes. What's more, my fellow NetScaler colleagues frequently contribute their expertise through content and web sessions. I'll make sure to include links and dedicated sections for that valuable material.
You can expect a fresh issue every Monday, available on both Substack and LinkedIn. The archives and related posts are conveniently organized into sections here, making it easy for you to explore. Thank you for taking the time to read 'NetScaler Times.'
For those who want to stay in the loop and support my work, feel free to subscribe for free. Your continued engagement and feedback are greatly appreciated.
Agenda for this week:
1. Build status & updates
The details for the various builds have been summarized below, as this helps plan for new releases in your environment. Starting from 13.1 there will be the following:
Firmware will have a 3-year upgrade cycle, where new features are added, called the ‘Feature Phase’.
The ‘Maintenance Phase’ then starts, and it is then supported for another 3 years with bug fixes and security updates.
There will then be 1 year of extended support with security fixes only.
Typically, the guidance for NetScaler & NetScaler ADM build releases is that the Management platform needs to be the same or newer than the NetScaler(s) that it manages. I typically, go with the latest for ADM.
The NetScaler has multiple form factors to support different environments. NetScaler is built on a single operating system with a software-based architecture, so the behaviour will be the same no matter which is used — hardware, virtual machine, bare metal, or container.
Current Build Versions:
No changes to the builds this week.
2. Support & Security bulletins

System not completing timezone changes after applying the change and rebooting, when in HA.
You are unable to change the timezone in HA, as when it reboots and comes up, it goes back to coordinated time again. The Secondary node takes over and becomes Primary, when the original Primary boots up and contacts other node, it downgrades to Secondary observing that there is a Primary already in the network.
