Hello
I created a few articles that covered migrating from vCPU to UHMC for NetScaler licensing, I sometimes get questions so I have put the common ones into this post.
Question 1: I like vCPU! Can I renew it?
Response: Sorry, it is the end of renewal. Universal Hybrid Multi-cloud is the replacement.
Question 2: I get 40 vCPU with my current model, does UHMC have sufficient capacity to replace it?
Response: It effectively gives you unlimited cores!
Question 3: vCPU was so simple, how does bandwidth work? it seems more complicated.
Response: It isn’t that bad. This is a fixed capacity table, that provides an approximate throughput(the 10 and 200 numbers on the left-hand side are throughput in meg) for a given number of cores.
This is a good place to start. You can always allocate more capacity down the line.
Question 4: The current vCPU number doesn’t match the table above!
Response: No problem, the table is a guide. A nominal, 1Gbps VPX would require three cores to process traffic (plus a management core). This is normally used as a baseline. Looking at the typical throughput and memory you have today will give you an idea of where to start. Workloads can behave differently, this might require some investigation.
Question 5: As vCPU also needs NetScaler Console, can I use the same NetScaler Console to host UHMC licenses?
Response: Yes, of course.
Summary.
I hope that was useful! Let me know if this needs more.
